Steelers Cupcakes

29 Jan

So I thought Cardinals cupcakes were difficult to make…

Apparently the tricky cardinal design was good because it allowed an outlet for creativity, whereas the Steelers’ logo is a little simpler and therefore not as exciting in cupcake form. And, yet, still easy to mess up! Go figure.

Anyway, here they are.

Let’s start with a couple of tricks that did work:

These are chocolate-frosted cupcakes with an opened Oreo on top. The one in the left corner has icing diamonds, and the other two have candy-coated Hershey's Kisses in primary colors.

White icing cupcake with black icing lettering and gumdrops cut into diamonds. (Make sure that you keep the sugary side of the gumdrop on the bottom when cutting, or else the gooey center sticks to the cutting board.

Feeling a little lazy? Buy prepackaged chocolate cupcakes and add some Steelers yellow.

And now some cupcake ideas that kind of worked:

The color scheme rule works for the Steelers, too. Sort of. If you have non-drippy black icing, it'll probably work better.

These are cute, but I totally copied them from another site. Except that Kristy brilliantly came up with the idea to use the other half of the Oreo to make the bottom football.

And now the final category:

At least I tried.

Did you know the Steelers have a mascot? This is supposed to be him. The white part is his teeth.

And this is sort of a Cardinals v. Steelers metaphorical, artistical, whimsical cupcake attempt:
